The problem: RAP is live, legacy plans end July 1, 2028, and one wrong choice — consolidating at the wrong time, or picking a plan that doesn't count for PSLF — can cost you thousands.
Know your best student loan plan in 30 seconds — before you switch.
The solution: One page compares RAP vs IBR vs Tiered Standard from the same numbers, tells you in one line which plan wins for you, models your PSLF path (months left, estimated forgiven), and flags deadlines that could lock you in. Save it, set a yearly reminder, come back after you recertify.
What changed in 2026
- RAP launched July 1, 2026: payments of 1%–10% of AGI, minus $50 per dependent, $10 minimum — with interest subsidy and principal match.
- Tiered Standard for loans made on/after July 1, 2026: 10–25 years by balance band.
- Legacy plans phase out: borrowers on older plans must move to a new plan by July 1, 2028.
